# Export a session to my Garmin Watch

Before you can export your session to your watch, you first need to grant the necessary permissions for your RunMotion app to connect to your Garmin account.
You can export your sessions to any Garmin watch model. This article explains how.

## ✅ Grant permission to export to Garmin Connect

Directly in the settings of your plan via the "**My RunMotion**" tab (2️⃣) accessible from your **profile** (1️⃣), go to the export configuration of your training plan (3️⃣).
Find "**Garmin**" (4️⃣) in the list then click "**Connect**" (5️⃣).
Enter your Garmin username and password (6️⃣) and don’t forget to approve the permissions so that the export works (7️⃣ and 8️⃣).

Once everything is good, a page will confirm it. You can exit this page via the cross at the top left (9️⃣) (this will not remove the permission).

At any time, you can:
* 🔟: Disable the export to Garmin via the "**Disconnect**" link,
* 11 and 12: Check the permissions given for exporting your sessions.

## 🔁 Export my planned sessions to my watch
### 1. App RunMotion → Garmin Connect

Once the configuration is done between your RunMotion app and your Garmin watch, you will be able to export your session to carry it out using your watch.

In your RunMotion Coach app, you can export a full week or a particular session from your training plan.
* **Export a full week:** go to your **plan** (1️⃣) and tap the **watch icon** (2️⃣)!
* **Export a particular session:** directly in the session you are interested in, click on the **Export** link.
A message will tell you when everything is good!

### 2. Find my session on Garmin Connect
The planned session then appears almost instantly in the **Calendar** tab of Garmin Connect, on its scheduled date.

If you don’t see the **Export my training plan** section in the RunMotion app, scroll down in **Profile > My RunMotion**. The section may simply be lower on the screen.

### 3. Sync my watch with Garmin Connect
Do you see the planned training on Garmin Connect? Final step: you need to sync your Garmin watch with Garmin Connect (via Bluetooth or USB cable), just like when you transfer your completed sessions to Garmin Connect.

If you have pending activities on your watch, the transfer of scheduled sessions may take a little time, because Garmin first downloads pending sessions onto the watch before transferring the planned training.

If Garmin Connect shows a sync error when sending the workout to the watch:
1. Check whether the workout is visible in Garmin Connect first. If it is, the export from RunMotion is done.
2. Update your Garmin watch software.
3. Try the sync again.
4. If the error continues, contact Garmin support, because the issue is between Garmin Connect and the watch.

## 🚨 FAQ Export to Garmin

### ❓ I don’t see the planned training on Garmin Connect ❓

Try **in order** if you don’t see the training in the Calendar tab of Garmin:
1. Sometimes the Garmin Connect calendar is not up to date — close and reopen Garmin Connect to view the planned session.
2. If the trainings are present under **More > Training > Workouts**, then maybe the Calendar filter is wrong. In that case, go to Calendar > tap the three vertical dots icon top right > **Filter calendar** > select **Workouts**. Then the workouts should appear.
3. If the workouts are still not visible, the most likely cause is that you did not connect the correct Garmin Connect account. It’s rare, but about twenty users per year report this — some have two Garmin accounts.

### ❓ How to check I connected the correct Garmin Connect account ❓
To be sure you connected the correct account, go in Garmin Connect to **More > Settings > Connected Apps**. If you have granted the import and export permissions, **RunMotion Coach should appear twice**, possibly along with other apps like Strava.

By tapping one of them, there should be the **Workout** permission. On the other, the **Activities** permission. If **Workout** permission appears on neither, then you likely connected the wrong Garmin account.

To see the Garmin identifier you are currently connected with on Garmin Connect, on smartphone you can go to **More > Settings > Profile/Privacy > Manage Garmin Account** (at the bottom). There the email address of your Garmin Connect account should appear.

You must use that email address when granting authorization to RunMotion Coach.

You can disconnect Garmin in the RunMotion Coach app under **My Profile > Export my training plan** and then reconnect. The scheduled sessions should appear on Garmin Connect 🤞

You can also log in to Garmin Connect on the web (from your phone or computer) and check whether the workouts appear in your Garmin calendar.

## 🎧 Get audio guidance on your Garmin

Having voice prompts on your Garmin is now possible (though not the easiest)! When a compatible device is paired with the Garmin Connect™ app, the app provides audio alerts not on the watch but directly on your smartphone.
⚠️ Attention: for the configuration to work, make sure your Garmin Connect app remains open. Then you’ll have lap alerts, power alerts, pace/speed alerts, and heart rate alerts.

## 🔍 View the steps of your session on Garmin Connect

By default, Garmin does not display the steps of a session coming from a third‑party app. But there is a trick.
Go to **More > Training & Planning > Workouts.**
There you can duplicate the workout coming from RunMotion Coach by swiping left on it in the list, then tapping **Duplicate**.
You will then have a copy of the RunMotion Coach workout with the step descriptions and the ability to modify them, as if you created it directly on Garmin Connect.
