How do I add cycling on RunMotion Coach?

Want to include cycling in your RunMotion Coach training plan?

Here's how you can do it:

To add cycling sessions to your RunMotion Coach training plan, go to your settings. Click on your profile (icon at the bottom right), then click on "Settings" Next, click on "Training Preferences" and then on "My Training Days".

Next, click the small pencil icon in the top right corner and then click "Next".

From there, you can add your cycling sessions (Mountain Biking, Indoor Trainer, Gravel, Road Cycling).
You can choose up to 2 cycling days per week and select between Endurance or Strength (with a maximum of one strength day per week).
Note that the duration of long rides is primarily designed for road cycling.

Adding cycling training is a PREMIUM feature. To explore all the other PREMIUM features, check them out here!

Specific case: Home Trainer

When you choose Home Trainer as your activity type, the session duration is limited to a maximum of 2 hours and 30 minutes, as indoor training is more monotonous.
Remember to hydrate properly, even when training indoors.

Use power for your cycling workouts

If you have a power meter or a smart trainer, you can enter your cycling FTP in RunMotion Coach to personalize your training intensities in watts.
To enable it:

  1. Go to My profile
  2. Then My stats
  3. Open My physiological data
  4. Enable Use cycling power
  5. Enter your cycling FTP in watts

FTP (Functional Threshold Power) roughly corresponds to the highest power you can sustain at a relatively steady level during a prolonged effort, around one hour. It is commonly used to define your cycling power zones.

How can I determine my FTP?

If you already use a GPS bike computer, sports watch or smart trainer, first check whether your device provides an FTP estimate automatically. Some devices can estimate it from your rides when you use a power meter.
You can also perform a 20-minute FTP test:

  • warm up properly;
  • then ride for 20 minutes at the highest average power you can sustain consistently;
  • record your average power for those 20 minutes;
  • multiply this value by 0.95 to estimate your FTP.

For example, if you average 250 W for 20 minutes, your estimated FTP will be around 238 W (250 × 0.95).
This is a demanding test. Ideally, perform it when you are well rested, on a smart trainer or on a road where you can ride continuously without interruptions.
💡 Your FTP changes as your fitness evolves. Remember to update it in RunMotion Coach if your device detects a significant change or after completing a new FTP test.
